Samba school Unidos da Filadelfia (Philadelphia United) is modeled after
Carnaval parade organizations in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador da Bahia.
Founded in 2005, its mission is to spread the joy and excitement of Brazilian
percussion through education and performance. Participants play traditional
instruments, learn the rhythms of Brazilian Carnaval, and perform at community
events. Classes at MaMa are affiliated with the school.
